The Kings are 1-2 overall this season as they are coming off a home defeat to the Lakers. Oklahoma City is 4-0 as they have not lost a step since last season. These two teams will meet with tip-off set for 8 P.M. EST.
Sacramento’s defense struggles in loss to Lakers
Sacramento is 1-2 overall this season. The Kings opened the season with a 120-116 loss to the Suns on the road. They followed it with a 105-104 win in their home opener versus Utah on Friday, Oct. 24. Domantas Sabonis made a shot in the final seconds to seal the win.
In their last game, the Kings lost 127-120 at home on Sunday, Oct. 26. Sacramento trailed for the majority of the game, with their largest lead being just four points in the defeat. The Kings allowed the Lakers to shoot 48.8% from the field as Austin Reaves scored 51 points on 12-for-22 shooting. The Kings turned the ball over 16 times, leading to the Thunder scoring 27 points. The Kings were dominated in the lane and in rebounding in the loss. Zach LaVine led the Kings with 32 points on 12-for-24 shooting.
LaVine is leading the team with 31 points per game. Sabonis is grabbing a team-high 13 rebounds per game, while Dennis Schroder is passing for 7.3 assists per game. Through the first three games, Sacramento ranks 20th in offensive efficiency and in team rebounding.
The Kings are 0-2-1 against the spread this season. They pushed their opening game as a four-point underdog against Phoenix. They did not cover against the Lakers and Jazz as they were favored in both. The over is 2-1 when the Kings have played this year. The over is 2-0 when the total has been set at 229 or less.
Keegan Murray and Nique Clifford are both out for this game.
Oklahoma City starting season well
The Thunder are 4-0 through the first week of the season. Oklahoma City secured wins over Houston and Indiana, with both games going into double overtime. The Thunder followed it with a 17-point victory over Atlanta on the road.
In their last game, the Thunder defeated Dallas 101-94 on the road on Monday, Oct. 27. The Mavericks never led in the game as Oklahoma City controlled throughout the game. The Thunder almost gave up their lead, but they closed the game on a 6-0 run to win the game. The Thunder shot 46.7% from the field and forced Dallas to shoot 37.9%. Oklahoma City outscored Dallas 68-36 in the win. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the team with 23 points on 10-for-22 shooting.
The Thunder are the fourth-ranked defensively efficient team so far. They also rank 13th in offensive efficiency, too. Gilgeous-Alexander is leading the team with 36 points per game. He’s already dropped 55 points this season in the win against the Pacers.
The Thunder are 1-3 against the spread this season. Oklahoma City has been favored in every game by single digits so far. They have only covered as an 8.5-point win over Atlanta. The total is 2-2 through the first four games, too.
The Thunder missed Jalen Williams, Isiah Joe, Alex Caruso, Nikola Topic, Kenrich Williams and Thomas Sorber in Monday’s game.
Sacramento Kings vs Oklahoma City Thunder PicksKings vs Thunder Spread Pick Oklahoma City Thunder -10.5 (5 units)
The Thunder missed a plethora of players in Monday’s game. If they are to return a few for this game, it will be key for them to get the win. Even if they don’t, I still expect the Thunder to secure a victory thanks to their interior scoring. Chet Holmgren has been great through the first games and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to be MVP quality. The Thunder have only covered once this season and I think they are due to cover the spread in just their second home game. The Kings struggled on defense against the Lakers as Austin Reeves erupted for 51 points. SGA can pick apart Sacramento’s defensive lineup and score at will. The Thunder will hit the paint and keep Sacramento away from second-chance points all evening.
Take the Thunder to cover.
Kings vs Thunder Over/Under Pick
The over is 2-0 when the total has been set at 229 or less for Kings games through the first week. The Thunder rank 13th in offensive efficiency, while the Kings rank 22nd in pace. The Thunder are coming off a game on Monday night, and the game should be more open for fast-break points due to fatigue. The Thunder are also the 11th-ranked fastest team as they have put points up with ease so far this year.
Take the over on Tuesday.
