BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A Bakersfield man was arrested in Indiana after authorities allegedly found nearly 400 pounds of drugs, with an estimated value of about $9 million.
The Indiana State Police said on the morning of April 20, 2026, an Indiana State Police Criminal Interdiction Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a commercial motor vehicle traveling on Interstate 70, near Cloverdale in Putnam County for exceeding the posted speed limit.
During the interaction with the driver, 27-year-old Harmandeep Singh of Bakersfield, the trooper saw multiple criminal indicators suggesting the driver was operating below industry standards, according to Indiana State Police.
Officials said during a search of the tractor and trailer, several duffle bags and cardboard boxes were found containing about 392 pounds (178 kilograms) of suspected cocaine. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics is about $9 million.
Singh was taken into custody and transported to the Putnam County Jail where he is being held on a $30,000 cash bond.
