BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Here is a look at some important deadlines and dates for voters planning to cast their ballot for the California primary election:

May 4: County election officials will begin mailing primary ballots. It can be picked up (or vote) at an Early Voting site

May 5: Secure ballot drop-off boxes open. Boxes will be available 24 hours, 7 days a week. Boxes will close at 8 p.m. on June 2.

May 18: Last day to register to vote for the primary election. After May 18, you must complete same-day voter registration and request your ballot in person at the election office or polling location.

May 23: Vote centers open for early in-person voting.

June 2: Primary Election
