San Diego is home to one of the smoggiest regions in the United States.
The American Lung Association reports the San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad areas are the seventh smoggiest in the country.
The Lung Association blames it on the polluted Tijuana River, topography, wild fires and a cuts in government funding.
“So there are options out there for different preventative measures, investments that would help fire crews do their job of doing a fuel reduction,” says Will Barrett with the Lung Association, who tells KOGO news, not enough is being done.
He adds now is the time to strengthen air pollution standards, but the EPA is doing the opposite, by rolling back enforcement.
