Tenants voice their concerns for the increase in housing unreliability
Residents at the La Brea Park apartments have voiced their concerns about undesired living conditions, dealing with buckled floors, holes in ceilings, and multiple leaks, with management not addressing the issue.
Located at 6200 West 3rd Street in Los Angeles’ Miracle Mile District, individuals say that flooding due to rainfall has warped their floors. Leaks have started to leave water pooling in their walls, which raises concern for mold.
“We had some issues that caused severe damage in our neighbor’s unit, which resulted in, at this stage now, I think it’s been 10 or 11 weeks without a shower,” stated resident Karimah Aledelbi.
Management at the apartment suggested that they use the pool shower, which would be an additional $150 a month on top of their $3,500 rent.
Aledelbi said that the only thing management has done for their unit is help her husband cut a hole in their kitchen ceiling. The hole was meant to look for a leak, but it was left that way and never fixed.
Similar to Aledelbi and their family, other residents have faced the same problems with little to no support or response from management.
Residents have been offered to be moved to a different unit so long as they fill out a non-disclosure agreement regarding the plumbing problems.
While the views located at Tower 48 are said to be spectacular, another resident voiced that the complex’s HVAC system could pose serious and life-threatening risks for those in the building.

Resident Jeff Eissenstat said that tenants learned about the health risks through a letter from the Los Angeles Housing Department back in October of 2024. It stated that illegal construction could include hazards involving “life-threatening conditions.”
Residents say that problems not only exist in their complex but also in those of others as well.
