One winner, Cynthia Bravo, purchased their ticket at the Chevron gas station at 4200 Norwood Avenue in Sacramento.
The other winner, Metta Barone, purchased theirs at the Safeway at 4805 Granite Drive in Rocklin.
Those were two of three total winners. The third purchased their ticket in Long Beach.
“When I realized I had won, I was outside the store where I bought the ticket,” the winner told the California Lottery. “Winning that kind of money from a $10 ticket is unbelievable. I went back inside and scanned it again because I still couldn’t believe it.”
The California Lottery has raised more than $48 billion for the state’s public schools since its inception in October 1985. Voters established it through Prop 37 in 1984.
The money has been used to improve athletics programs, support arts programs, support career-focused programs, and even train firefighters, according to the California Lottery.
