BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Three people are dead Friday after a crash in southwest Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Police said the crash happened in the intersection of Harris Road and Summer Springs Drive at 6:45 p.m. Thursday.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash including a Toyota SUV, Ford SUV and a Honda sedan.

Officers said all three vehicles were driving eastbound when the Toyota rear-ended the Ford when the Ford and Honda were at the intersection. This caused major impact with the Honda, according to BPD.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to a hospital where she later died. The driver and passenger of the Ford were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation and impairment is still unknown.
