BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A private swearing-in ceremony was held for the incoming Bakersfield Police Chief, Brent Stratton, Friday morning.
It was held at the Bakersfield Police Activities League.

Stratton has been with the Bakersfield Police Department for 22 years, where he currently oversees field services and special operations. His background includes leadership roles in patrol, investigations, internal affairs, SWAT, the Directed Policing Unit, and the Gang Unit, as well as field training officer duties.
Bakersfield Police Chief Greg Terry will retire on Thursday, April 30th, 2026. Chief Terry joined the department in 1997 and became chief in 2020.
