Gov. Newsom announces $50,000 rewards to help solve several Northern California cold cases

Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday announced $50,000 rewards to help solve cold cases across the state.The list includes two cases out of Butte County and one in Sacramento. Marc Thompson, 25, was fatally shot in a remote location in Butte County on Sept. 3, 2014.Tyler Dickson, 20, was fatally shot while sleeping in a tent at a campsite in Butte County on July 3, 2021.Anyone with tips on those two cases is urged to contact Butte County Sheriff’s Sergeant Patrick McNelis or Sergeant Tristian Harper at 530-538-7671.In Sacramento, Anthony Baraja was shot in the chest by someone in a passing car while in the parking lot of a Home Depot on Meadowview Road on June 28, 2015. Anyone with information on that case is urged to contact the Sacramento Police Department Office of Investigations at 916-808-0650.Under the Rewards for Unsolved Cases program, the governor may issue rewards for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of unsolved crimes if the cases are recommended by law enforcement officials.
