CONCORD — Emergency work to repair a damaged overhead street sign will cause the closure of an East Bay freeway late Monday into Tuesday.
Caltrans said its workers will repair the sign on northbound Interstate 680 at the state Highway 242 split, beginning at 10 p.m. Monday. The freeway will be opened again at 4 a.m. Tuesday.
The onramp entrance at Willow Pass Road will stay open. Southbound I-680 also will be open.
The repair work will be cancelled if there is rain or other inclement weather, the agency said.
Caltrans will post detour signs, and urged motorists to plan for extra travel time.
