SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A crash involving a motorcycle temporarily shut down multiple lanes on westbound Interstate 8 near the College Area on Saturday morning, causing traffic delays.

According to a Sig Alert from California Highway Patrol, the collision happened shortly before 9:35 a.m. just east of Waring Road.

Early reports indicate a motorcycle rider was down in the fast lane following a crash involving multiple vehicles, though the exact number has not been confirmed at this time.

CHP noted that multiple vehicles were stopped in traffic lanes, with people getting of of their cars and surrounding the rider in the roadway. A second motorcyclist was also reported to be stopped in the area.

Emergency crews responded to the scene. The extent of the rider’s injuries are not yet known.

Caltrans reported at 9:52 a.m. that three lanes were blocked due to the crash. In an update at 10:21 a.m., CHP reported that all lanes have since reopened.
