The Anaheim Ducks entered Game 4 with a 2-1 series lead, and a chance to push the Edmonton Oilers to the brink. It was a very close encounter between these two teams. In the end, they needed overtime. After a lengthy review, Ryan Poehling emerged as Anaheim’s overtime winner.

Poehling carried the puck along the wall in overtime. He attempted to pass the puck in the low slot, but it deflected off someone in front. It went between the legs of Oilers goalie Tristan Jarry. After some confusion, the officials on the ice ruled that the puck crossed the line. A lengthy video review confirmed the goal, giving Anaheim a chaotic win.

Anaheim lost the first game of this series to the Oilers. However, they have been the better team since that Game 1 defeat. Over the last three games, they have scored 15 goals as Edmonton struggles to keep the puck out of their net.

Poehling joined the Ducks this offseason in the Trevor Zegras trade with the Philadelphia Flyers. He made his playoff debut in Game 1 of this series. In Game 2, he scored twice to help the Ducks claim a 6-4 win and tie the series at the time.

The Oilers have shown resiliency in past postseasons. In 2024, they trailed the Florida Panthers 3-0 in the Stanley Cup Final. In 2025, they trailed the Los Angeles Kings 2-0 in the first round. They failed to beat the Panthers for the Cup, but did force Game 7. Edmonton did, however, defeat the Kings in six games.

Edmonton will need to find that same resiliency this season if they wish to make a third straight Stanley Cup Final. The Ducks, meanwhile, will hit the ice at Rogers Place on Tuesday night looking to end the Oilers’ season early.
