A Garden City man crashed into a Verizon store on Woodward Avenue in Ferndale while fleeing cops last Friday, police said, and is now facing criminal charges.
Emad Rehman, 26, is charged with third-degree fleeing and eluding — a felony — and driving while license suspended, a misdemeanor.
Rehman is held in the Oakland County Jail with bond set at $5,000. He also has several outstanding warrants for traffic-related charges in Wayne County, his jail record shows, and reportedly has no insurance on the vehicle.

According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, the police pursuit began when a Royal Oak officer saw Rehman run a red light while driving a Tesla Model 3. He then started weaving through traffic at a high speed, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the storefront at the corner of Woodward and Lewiston avenues.
“It’s fortunate this incident ended without any injuries,” said Prosecutor Karen McDonald stated in a news release.. “The defendant’s alleged actions recklessly endangered countless motorists and damaged a business.”
Third-degree fleeing and eluding is punishable by up to five years in prison and/or a $1,000 fine. Driving while license suspender carries a penalty of up to 93 days in jail and/or a $500 fine.
Rehman is due back in 44th District Court on May 8 for a probable cause conference.
