Every day and every night, we give our hearts, our skill, and our strength to heal our community, Cha added. But Wednesday, we are being asked to jeopardize the very lives we swore to protect. Keck USC nurses are working under unsafe staffing conditions that violate the most basic standards of patient care.
The nurses are members of  the National Nurses United (NNU) union, which said  the collective bargaining is ongoing, but has not yielded results or adequate progress.
The one day strike could be a precursor to a longer strike which requires the union give Keck/USC 10 days notice, said Cha.
City News Service requested a comment from Keck/USC and asked if the strike would affect patient care and operations at their facilities, but have not yet received a response.
