Police on Monday sought the public’s help to identify a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a woman in her 50s injured last month in the Westlake District, authorities said.
The collision occurred on March 18 at about 7:50 p.m. when a dark-colored vehicle traveling northbound on Witmer Street struck the woman as she was walking westbound across Shatto Street in a marked crosswalk, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and treated the woman. Her condition was not immediately available.
Authorities said the driver fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Los Angeles police reminded pedestrians to cross streets with caution, obey traffic signals, and use marked crosswalks. The law also requires drivers to remain on the scene if involved in an accident.
