California Highway Patrol to launch 12-hour Halloween Maximum Enforcement Period

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The California Highway Patrol is set to launch a 12-hour Maximum Enforcement Period for Halloween night into Nov. 1.

During the Maximum Enforcement Period, officers will be deployed and protecting from and preventing impaired driving. The enforcement period is scheduled from 6 p.m. Oct. 31 to 6 a.m. on Nov. 1.

Officials with the highway patrol said during 2024’s Halloween Maximum Enforcement Period, officers investigated nearly 500 crashes statewide. During the period, officers made nearly 120 DUI arrests.

About 90 of the 500 crashes involved impaired drivers. From those, two people died and more than 60 were injured, according to CHP.
