The longtime Russian Hill home of developer Robert Fisher, a prominent San Francisco developer and younger brother of Gap founder Donald Fisher, has hit the market for $17.25 million.
The house at 888 Francisco St. is being sold by Fisher’s family after his death last year. A San Francisco builder, Fisher worked in both housing and retail construction and played a role in Gap’s rapid store expansion.
Sotheby’s International Realty is marketing the property as a three-bedroom, 6,272-square-foot home with four full bathrooms, two half-baths and sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz and the Marin Headlands. The listing agents are Joseph Lucier and Stacey Caen.
Built in 1998, the home was designed by San Francisco architect Sandy Walker and developed by Fisher, according to the listing. The property includes a spiral staircase, formal dining room, club room, exercise studio, wine cellar, elevator, terraces and a two-car garage.
Fisher died in October 2025 at age 94. A native San Franciscan, he built more than 1,000 homes in Northern California over the course of his career. He was also the uncle of John Fisher, owner of the Athletics.
His professional path also intersected with Gap’s rise.
Fisher’s company took on a major role in building out Gap stores after Donald Fisher asked his brother in 1974 to help accelerate store construction. That work later expanded across Gap’s brands in North America and Europe and helped establish Fisher Development as a major retail contractor.
The listing lands at a moment when San Francisco’s luxury housing market is showing renewed momentum.
