Okay wait, this is actually such an L.A. concept…it’s basically a half marathon, but instead of just suffering the whole time, you’re stopping along the route to eat at some of the city’s best spots.
Like imagine running 13 miles through neighborhoods like Silver Lake, Echo Park, and Highland Park, and casually refueling with things like bagels, pizza, and French toast…for free.
The route goes through Highland Park, Echo Park and Silver Lake…and stops Courage Bagels, Quarter Sheets Pizza, Found Oyster, Amboy Burgers and Sqirl Café.
The whole vibe isn’t even super intense either it’s more like a moving food crawl than a serious race.
There’s no prize at the end, just bragging rights and the experience, and only 100 people get picked through a lottery (you enter in pairs, which is kinda cute).
It’s happening May 17th, and honestly it sounds more like a foodie block party that just happens to involve running.

Kennedy International Airport down to under 10 minutes.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>California-based Joby Aviation, Inc. launched its electric air taxi demonstration flights on Friday (April 25), with the aircraft departing from JFK and touching down at several Manhattan heliports, including the Downtown Skyport and the West 30th Street and East 34th Street heliports in Midtown. The flights are part of a week-long public campaign showcasing the company’s all-electric, zero-emission aircraft across New York City’s existing heliport network.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The aircraft flew with pilots but carried no passengers. The demonstrations are designed to show how the technology could one day connect Lower Manhattan and Midtown to JFK in just minutes — a trip that, by ground, can swallow up to two hours in heavy traffic.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>\u003cstrong>JoeBen Bevirt\u003c/strong>, founder and chief executive officer of Joby, said \u003ca href=\”https://ir.jobyaviation.com/news-events/press-releases/detail/181/joby-brings-electric-air-taxis-to-new-york-city-in\” target=\”_blank\”>New York has always set the pace for the future\u003c/a>. "We first flew here in 2023, and now we’re showing what the next chapter looks like: a quiet, zero operating emissions air taxi service designed to better serve New Yorkers," Bevirt said. "This week, flying between JFK and Manhattan, we showed what the White House-backed eIPP initiative makes possible and offered New York a look at what’s coming."\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The flights celebrate New York’s selection in March under the federal electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), established by executive order to speed up the commercial rollout of next-generation air transportation across the United States. Joby was named a partner on five of the selected projects, spanning 12 states.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which oversees the region’s airports, bridges, tunnels, and seaport, worked closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Joby to make the flights possible. Port Authority Chairman \u003cstrong>Kevin O’Toole\u003c/strong> called the aircraft "exactly the kind of innovation we have a responsibility to test, understand, and help shape for the good of the region and the public."\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), in partnership with Skyports Infrastructure and Vertiports by Atlantic, plans to electrify the city’s heliport infrastructure ahead of a commercial air taxi launch. \u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Joby’s aircraft is designed with multiple built-in safety redundancies and produces significantly less noise than traditional helicopters, with an acoustic profile that blends into the everyday sounds of city life. The company says the \u003ca href=\”https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/27/us/nyc-electric-air-taxis\” target=\”_blank\”>trips could one day reclaim some of the 102 hours the average New York commuter lost to traffic congestion\u003c/a> in 2025.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>On pricing, Bevirt said that the company’s target is "to be competitive with ground transportation over time." Ride-share fares between JFK and Midtown currently range from $150 to $250, depending on time of day and traffic.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Joby’s New York push builds on its 2025 acquisition of Blade Air Mobility’s passenger business, now a wholly owned subsidiary. antibiotics.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed at least \u003ca href=\”https://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/outbreaks/saintpaul-04-26/index.html\” target=\”_blank\”>34 people across 13 states have been sickened\u003c/a> by the same strain of salmonella, all traced to contact with backyard birds. Thirteen of those patients required hospitalization. No deaths have been reported so far.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Illnesses were reported between Wednesday (February 26) and Tuesday (March 31). The patients range in age from less than one year old to 78 years old, with a median age of just 12. More than 40% of those infected are children younger than five.=\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Michigan has reported the most confirmed cases at six, followed by Ohio and Wisconsin with five each. Indiana, Kentucky, and Maine have recorded three cases apiece. Maryland and West Virginia each have two confirmed cases, while Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, New Hampshire, and Tennessee have each reported one.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>What makes this outbreak especially worrying is the \u003ca href=\”https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2026-04-27/cdc-warns-of-drug-resistant-salmonella-infections-linked-to-backyard-poultry\” target=\”_blank\”>bacteria’s resistance to drugs\u003c/a>. Samples from all 34 patients showed the salmonella strain may be resistant to fosfomycin, an antibiotic often used when other drugs have already failed. Samples from eight of those patients also showed possible resistance to four other common antibiotics: chloramphenicol, streptomycin, sulfisoxazole, and tetracycline.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Most salmonella infections clear up within four to seven days without medication. But for high-risk groups, including young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems, antibiotics can be critical to preventing serious illness or death. Infections resistant to multiple drugs narrow the options doctors have to treat severe cases.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Backyard poultry,including chickens, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, and turkeys, can carry salmonella without appearing sick. Of the 29 patients interviewed by health officials, 23 said they had contact with backyard birds in the week before getting ill. Fourteen people said they own backyard poultry, and all but one obtained their birds since January.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The CDC says investigators are still working to identify a common source for the animals. People reportedly got their birds from various places, including agricultural retail stores.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>You don’t have to handle a bird directly to get infected. Touching anything in a bird’s environment, including feed, cages, or eggs, and then touching your mouth or food without washing your hands can expose you to salmonella germs.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The CDC is urging backyard poultry owners to take simple but important precautions. Wash your hands thoroughly with warm soap and water after handling birds, their eggs, or any equipment. Wear a dedicated pair of shoes when caring for your flock, and leave those shoes outside. Keep birds and their supplies out of the home.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Children younger than five should not handle backyard poultry or related materials, as they face a higher risk of serious illness. The CDC also advises against kissing or snuggling birds close to your face.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>Every year, salmonella causes roughly 1.35 million illnesses and 420 deaths in the United States. This is not the first time backyard poultry has been connected to an outbreak. In 2025, a similar outbreak sickened more than 500 people across 48 states, hospitalizing 125 and killing two.\u003c/p>\n\n\u003cp>The CDC says the true number of cases in the current outbreak is likely higher than reported, since many sick people never seek medical attention.
