BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 26-year-old Kern County Superintendent of Schools employee who worked as a teacher’s aide at Chipman Junior High and as a Foothill High School track and field assistant coach was arrested on charges including child molestation and possession of child pornography after an investigation into reported inappropriate behavior at the junior high. Authorities believe there may be additional victims.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the Bakersfield Police Department arrested 26-year-old Adolfo Escudero-Mendoza, an employee of the Kern County Superintendent of Schools, for multiple charges, including child molestation and possession of child pornography.

Police said a day prior, on Tuesday, April 28th, officers were called to Chipman Junior High after the school received a report of inappropriate behavior by a man, a teacher’s aide who worked on campus.

According to police, after a thorough investigation, BPD Special Victims Unit Detectives learned Escudero-Mendoza also worked for the Kern High School District as a paid assistant coach for the Foothill High School track and field program.

Escudero-Mendoza was booked into Kern County jail.

Police said that based on the evidence uncovered during the investigation, it is believed there may be other victims.

A letter was sent out to families at Chipman Junior High School. The letter said that there was alleged inappropriate communication with a student at Chipman.
