The women of Las Patronas held their annual Jewel Ball media preview April 29 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club to provide a first look at the decor and ambiance planned for the 80th Jewel Ball, themed “Festa di Venezia.”

The ball will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Beach & Tennis Club.

The idea is to “transport guests into an unforgettable evening while remaining deeply rooted in our purpose — raising funds that make a lasting difference,” said 2026 Jewel Ball chairwoman Jenny McGowan.

The theme is inspired by Venice, Italy, “from vibrant florals and candlelit ambiance to a thoughtfully curated culinary experience and music inspired by Vivaldi,” according to Las Patronas.

Guests at the preview got a peek at table decorations and other aesthetic concepts for the ball, which raises money to benefit San Diego-area nonprofits. Las Patronas has granted more than $28 million to about 1,000 nonprofits since its founding in 1946.

This year’s major beneficiaries will include the Alpha Project for homeless services, Canine Companions, Meals on Wheels San Diego County, National Marine Mammal Foundation, Promises2Kids, Sanford Burnham Prebys and Workshops for Warriors.
