BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Two brothers pleaded not guilty to charges, including attempted murder, after allegedly assaulting a man with a baseball bat on Niles Street when he asked them to slow down while driving recklessly.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on April 26, 2026, at around 10:19 a.m., there was a call for service made in the 1600 block of Niles Street. Officials said the reporting person stated there was an assault with a bat.
22-year-old Juan Morales and 19-year-old Isaias Morales, both of Bakersfield, were arrested for attempted murder, vandalism, and other associated charges.

Police said a portion of the offense was videotaped and depicted a suspect striking the victim and the victim’s vehicle with a baseball bat.

The victim, identified as a man, was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation confirmed the suspects were driving recklessly in a neighborhood. When the victim asked them to slow down due to children being in the area, the suspects became confrontational and assaulted the victim, according to police.
The brothers appeared in court Thursday afternoon.

Both plead not guilty. They received no bail.
