A Grand Opening ceremony was held Thursday morning for 185 new affordable apartments by the Metro B Line station at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. This is part of an effort to build 10,000 housing units on Metro-owned land throughout the county by 2031, with at least 5,000 of those homes to be income-restricted.

Lincoln Heights

Residents are pushing back against the latest construction plan in the Flat Top Hill area — a proposal for a single-family home and an ADU. ABC7

Los Feliz

A six-story, 40-unit, 100%-affordable housing development is planned for 1756 N. Serrano Ave., according to the city’s planning department. An application is also pending with the Department of Building & Safety to demolish an existing single-family dwelling and detached garage on that site.

A plan to build 76 new one-bedroom apartments near the Whole Foods Market has been stalled after the City Planning Commission decided to continue the approval hearings to June 11. A four-story building and two five-story buildings would be constructed behind the seven existing two-story apartment buildings at 2413-2499 Silver Lake Blvd. Commissioners asked for the continuance in order to hear from officials who have inspected the existing buildings over previous code violations.
