The Mira Costa girls beach volleyball team is back in the CIF-Southern Section championships.

The Mustangs, who won the first two CIF-SS championships (2022-23) and lost to Redondo Union last year, will face JSerra Saturday at Long Beach City College at 1:30 p.m.

The top-seeded Mustangs swept Oaks Christian (5-0) in the quarterfinals and San Marcos (5-0) in the semifinals. JSerra derailed the fourth consecutive Mira Costa-Redondo finals match, defeating the Sea Hawks 3-2 in the semifinals.

Mira Costa defeated JSerra 4-1 in the season opener, Feb. 25.

Bishop Montgomery in Division 2 final

Bishop Montgomery, the Del Rey League champion, will face top-seeded Edison at Noon in the CIF-SS Division 2 final at Long Beach City College.

The Knights swept Santa Barbara (5-0) in the first round and have followed with wins over Thousand Oaks (3-2) and San Clemente (4-1).

Mira Costa, Redondo Union boys volleyball begin Tuesday

After having first-round byes, the top-seeded Mira Costa and No. 2 seed Redondo Union boys volleyball teams will get open the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs Tuesday.

The Mustangs (31-2) will host South Coast League champion Tesoro (23-6) at 6 p.m. The teams met in the Best of the West Tournament in March with Mira Costa winning 25-23, 25-15.

The Sea Hawks (26-3) will host Trinity League champion Santa Margarita (29-10). The semifinals are May 9 and the finals are either May 15 or May 16.

Palos Verdes and Mira Costa girls lacrosse teams start Division 1 playoffs Saturday

Mira Costa and Palos Verdes girls lacrosse teams will open the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs Saturday.

The Sea Kings (13-6) are on the road at top seed Santa Margarita.

Second-seeded Mira Costa (14-3) will host JSerra at 5 p.m.

Redondo Union’s first-round game against Mater Dei was moved to Friday.

In Division 2, El Segundo defeated San Marcos 8-7 in Thursday’s second round. The Eagles will host Royal in the quarterfinals, May 7.
