NORTH BEACH — Qua O La, a new wine bar touting bottles and food from Croatia and Italy, has opened as of Saturday, April 25, the San Francisco Standard reports. The wine bar takes over the former Portofino space, cerving ćevapi, grilled sausages on pita with a red pepper spread, cicchetti, and platters with dry-cured olives, Calabrian salami, cheese, and more, per the Standard. 1318 Grant Avenue, San Francisco

SOMA — Chai cafe Elaichi Co., based out of Berkeley, opens a new location in SoMa. The new space is a collaboration with San Francisco’s Vacant to Vibrant program, which pairs small businesses with vacant storefronts in downtown. The new shop opens on Friday, May 1, and serves chai (of course), along with coffee, seasonal drinks, shakes, lattes, and some baked goods. 360 Third Street, San Francisco

INNER RICHMOND — The second location of ultra-popular Berkeley restaurant Rose Pizzeria has finally opened in San Francisco. With the expanded space, owners Gerad Gobel and Alexis Rorabaugh have expanded the menu a bit, adding four styles of tonda Romana pies into the mix, a thinner and crispier pizza style than their originals. Berkeley favorites are still there, such as the spicy Caesar and mushroom-laden champion pizza, along with a selection of wines by the glass and bottle. 1 Clement Street, San Francisco

OUTER SUNSET — Smash burger specialist Maillards and Two Pitchers Brewing Co. are now open in the Outer Sunset as of Wednesday, April 22, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The two businesses operate together on Noriega Street, serving smash burgers with single or double patties, alongside the brewery’s lagers and radlers. Along with four different smash burgers, Maillards also serves a chicken sandwich, chicken tenders, Caesar salad, fries, plus soft serve. 3821 Noriega Street, San Francisco

OAKLAND — The Lodge is back! After closing at the end of January, the bar has returned under new ownership as of Friday, April 17, East Bay Nosh reports. New owners Chris Cashin and Kris Gordon have installed a budget-friendly menu with items like a burger, hot dog, grilled cheese, and a kid’s menu, but otherwise it maintains the same vibes as before. The owners hope to bring back pop-ups this summer, as well as patio barbecues, the outlet reports. 3578 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland

SANTA CLARA — The highly anticipated Asia Live finally has an opening date and is set to open on Monday, June 1, at Westfield Valley Fair. It’s another large-scale food, beverage, and retail space on par with China Live in San Francisco, but this time featuring kitchen stations touting noodles, dumplings, barbecue, tandoori, shave ice, and baked goods from across Asia. There will be also three separate bars serving different types of Asian spirits and cocktails, and a retail area filled with condiments, goods, snacks, and more. 2855 Stevens Creek Blvd #1891, Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA — And more in Westfield Valley Fair news: A second Bay Area location of China-based restaurant chain Tai Er Sichuan Cuisine opens at the mall as of Friday, May 1. It’s a huge space with over 100 seats, serving its signature Chinese sauerkraut fish, mapo tofu, black pepper beef, and local exclusives, like a lime-glazed sweet and sour shrimp dish.
