The Valkyries are entering their second season valued at $850 million, with their valuation growing by $350 million since their inaugural year in 2025, according to Sportico. That includes a WNBA-record $78 million in revenue accrued in 2025. Their $500 million valuation in 2025 also led the league.
The growth is especially eye-popping considering the price Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob and Peter Guber initially paid – a $50 million expansion fee over 10 years for the franchise in September 2023.
The Valkyries’ popularity in the Bay Area has been robust since they started play in 2025. Golden State set attendance records having sold out every home game at Chase Center, the team announced. Their 18,064 average home attendance and 397,408 total fans set all-time WNBA records while they sold more than 10,000 season tickets in their inaugural year.
The Valkyries made it worth the fans’ while, becoming the first WNBA expansion team to make the playoffs in their first year, though they were knocked out of the first round by the Minnesota Lynx.
Fans are coming out strong in Year 2 with the team reporting to have sold out their season tickets, more than 12,000, for the 2026 season.
Rounding out Sportico’s top five most valuable WNBA teams are the New York Liberty at $600 million, the Indiana Fever (with Caitlin Clark) at $560 million, the Seattle Storm at $425 million and the Phoenix Mercury at $420 million.
