A new bakery option is now open in East Bakersfield, bringing “Nothing Bundt Cakes” closer to residents who previously had to drive across town for the brand’s signature cakes and frosting.
The new location is at 2660 Oswell St. in East Bakersfield. The business held a ribbon ceremony Thursday and is marking its opening with a grand opening celebration Saturday.

Owner Chiral Desai said the expansion to the east side came after hearing from customers who had to travel to another location. She said Bakersfield is a big and growing city, and the new store is meant to be closer to more customers.
Chiral described the brand as “warm and fuzzy,” with a goal “to bring joy celebrate just because.” She said the cakes are baked fresh in-house daily and frosted in-house, using ingredients such as butter, eggs, sugar and flour.
For May, the store’s featured flavor is “Strawberry Cheesecake Swirl”, highlighted as part of Mother’s Day celebrations.

Saturday’s grand opening event is set to include giveaways and activities. The first 50 people when doors open at 9 a.m. will receive a card for a free bundtlet each month for a year. From noon to 2 p.m., the store plans to host community activities including a face painter and balloon artist. The store also plans to offer a special treat to people who download the Nothing Bundt Cakes app during that noon-to-2 p.m. window.
The store also said it is donating 20% of sales Friday to the Care Foundation as part of its opening and community support efforts.

The bakery’s staff starts early to keep up with demand. The store said its baker begins work at 6 a.m., and with business picking up, may need to start as early as 4 a.m. to have enough cakes ready before the 9 a.m. opening.
