BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Firefighters in Kern County responded to a wind-driven grass fire on Sunday afternoon that burned 25 acres and threatened nearby homes.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, crews were able to protect structures and contain the fire before it caused any reported damage or injuries.

The fire spread quickly due to windy conditions, highlighting how quickly flames can spread through the area’s dry grass.
