Re “Report: City streets to degrade to ‘poor’ category within decade” (April 26): Yet another sign of the incompetents running our city. The excuse: “This is the result of insufficient funding over decades.” I agree that funding has been insufficient but, please, underfunding is not new and not a surprise. Why hasn’t it been addressed in the past six years? Mayor Gloria has been a City Council member or mayor for most of the past 18 years. Most of the council members have been in office since 2020. Why haven’t we been looking at improving efficiencies rather than focusing on taxes and fees? Why haven’t we paid more attention to the monumental blunders that have cost millions? Why are those responsible for the current situation still in their positions?
