BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a woman who died after being struck by a vehicle on April 21st as 26-year-old Roshanda Jones of Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at around 9:08 p.m., officers were called out to reports of a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian in the 1500 block of Feliz Drive.

When they arrived, they found a woman, later identified as Jones, lying in the road with severe injuries.

She was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Police said a preliminary investigation found that Jones had been lying in the road for an unknown reason when she was hit.

The driver initially left the scene but then returned and cooperated with the investigation, according to police.
