BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was arrested for impersonating an officer after police say he allegedly used flashing red and blue lights in a black GM Yukon to pull over a driver.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, officers arrested 40-year-old Nicholas Leyva for impersonating a peace officer in the 200 block of South Union Avenue.
Police said at around 8:45 a.m., BPD officers responded to a call for service when the victim was pulled over by a person driving a black SUV with flashing red and blue interior lights.
The victim was suspicious of the driver and called 911.
Officers found video evidence of the incident and were able to identify Leyva as the driver of the vehicle, a black GM Yukon, which was located in the area of 4th and V Streets, according to police.

Leyva was booked into the Lerdo Detention Facility for multiple charges, including impersonating a peace officer and false imprisonment.
The victim was not physically contacted by Leyva and was not hurt.
