A man was convicted by a jury for the June 2024 shooting death of a woman in Sacramento County, according to prosecutors. Quentin Respers was convicted of second-degree murder on Monday in connection to a shooting that killed Abrina Abraham, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. He was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm. (Previous coverage in the video player above.) The shooting happened around 3:45 a.m. on June 24, 2022, at the 49er Travel Plaza along the 2800 block of El Centro Road, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s office said. A person called authorities saying a female had been shot inside the business and was lying on the floor. Prosecutors said Respers met with Abraham at the truck stop to discuss their relationship. After an argument, Respers pulled a gun from his waistband and fired two shots at Abraham, killing her. The shooting was caught on surveillance, but the gun was never located. Authorities previously said Respers was known to law enforcement and was on probation until 2023 in connection with the firearm charges he received in 2017. Respers faces a sentence of 43 years to life in prison. His sentencing is set for June 26 at Sacramento Superior Court.
