BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A decoy operation focusing on selling alcohol to minors led to a Millbrook Market employee being arrested, cited, and released on Cinco de Mayo.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on May 5th, 2026, BPD’s vice detectives, in partnership with California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), conducted a Minor Decoy operation in southwest Bakersfield.

Police said a Minor Decoy operation focuses on businesses that sell alcohol to underage people. A minor under the age of 21 enters a licensed establishment, presents valid identification indicating they are underage, and attempts to purchase alcohol. If the employee sells alcohol to the decoy, they can be arrested and the business can be subject to administrative action, including loss of their ABC license.

During the operation, Bakersfield Police Department detectives responded to the Millbrook Market, located at 9701 Panama Lane.

Police said a violation had occurred, and one employee was arrested for furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors. The employee was later released at the scene with a citation.
