LONG BEACH, Calif. – A First Team selection for sophomore Lina Apodaca highlighted postseason All-Big West awards for Long Beach State, which were announced Tuesday by the conference office in advance of the Big West Championship.
Sophomore Lina Apodaca was the team’s lone first-team selection, though the depth of Long Beach State was rewarded with eight total honorees on the 2026 teams.
Apodaca leads the Big West in total hits and doubles this season after a record-breaking 19th two-bagger last weekend. The Long Beach State leadoff hitter is batting .390 this season, and has been even better in league play, hitting .447 while starting every game this season in right field. She leads the team with a .505 on-base percentage in conference play.
The Beach had two Second Team All-Big West selections. Senior Isabella Alonso earned her third career All-Big West nod, leading Long Beach State in wins, innings pitched and strikeouts this season. Posting a 12-6 overall record with a 3.07 ERA, Alonso ranked in the conference’s Top 5 in both wins and ERA.
Shortstop Avery Weisbrook also earned second-team honors. Starting every game for Long Beach State, Weisbrook is second on the team in batting at .367, scoring 36 runs and slugging a team-best .547 on the season with 12 doubles, 3 triples and 3 home runs. Her 22 walks are also tied for the team lead, and the busy defender leads the nation with 152 assists in 2026.
The Beach had four student-athletes earn Honorable Mention. Kate Barnett and Brooklyn Lee were similar in that the juniors both missed the majority of non-conference play, but outstanding league seasons earned the pair honorable mention. Barnett has been excellent in the circle in league play, posting a 5-4 record and two saves with a 1.75 ERA and a WHIP of 1.05, coming in second in appearances behind Alonso in Big West action. Lee has started 26 straight games since her return, hitting .324 with seven doubles and 10 walks in league play.
Sophomore Priscilla Iniguez repeated as an Honorable Mention All-Big West selection following a strong second season. Tied for the team lead with five home runs, Iniguez is hitting .349 with 21 walks on the year, another player with an on-base percentage well over .400. Star freshman Nina Sepulveda rounded out the honorable mention selections. Sepulveda leads Long Beach State with 43 RBI, and the third baseman was a three-time Freshman of the Week honoree, hitting .352 with 10 doubles and three home runs and 11 stolen bases during the regular season.
Sepulveda was also named to the All-Freshman team, where she was joined by Elissa Guerrero. Guerrero shares the team lead in home runs with Iniguez, and is hitting .343 and slugging .597, coming on strong during the latter part of the season.
Long Beach State will participate in the first game of the second Big West Championship, facing UC Davis at 1 p.m. on Wednesday to begin their postseason run from Fullerton.
