A Los Angeles-based animal rescue is urgently seeking responsible fosters willing to open up their homes to a dog in need.
Wags & Walks Adoption Center said it’s in desperate need of volunteers to foster adoptable dogs in their homes as Los Angeles-area animal shelters reach a critical level of capacity. The nonprofit organization rescues dogs from high-kill shelters to get them into responsible and loving homes.
“Local shelters and rescues are overwhelmed, with the number of dogs being surrendered and abandoned reaching levels not seen since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent wildfire emergencies,” the shelter said in a statement.
For that reason, Wags & Walks said it’s in urgent need of foster pet parents.
The nonprofit provides foster families with food, supplies and medical care for the dogs. It said that it also provides guidance for fosters so they feel confident and prepared as they volunteer.
In particular, the animal rescue is searching for fosters who can take in pregnant dogs and mother dogs with puppies, dogs that require medical care and large breeds.
