A Fourth of July party plans to give revelers a preview of a new nightlife concept headed to downtown San Francisco.
Entrepreneur Dante Buckley is throwing the celebration aboard the San Francisco Belle to preview the rooftop bar concept of his supper club and nightlife venue, Dante’s Inferno, scheduled to open at 1815-1819 Market St. next year.
Dubbed Voyage to Paradiso, the party is inspired by the final book in Florentine poet Dante Alighieri’s “The Divine Comedy” and will featuring live performances by R&B singer SiR, veteran Outside Lands act BadBadNotGood and genre-bending singer Odeal.
Afrobeats music as well as Caribbean food and drink will be incorporated throughout the event to reflect Buckley’s Jamaican heritage.
“I want my guests to feel like they’ve been transported somewhere else,” he told the Chronicle. “There’s not a lot of Jamaican and Caribbean culture out here on the West Coast and in the Bay Area … I miss that part of the world.”
The Belle will also offer ample viewing opportunities of the city’s various Fourth of July firework shows.
Voyage to Paradiso is the second pop-up hosted by Buckley ahead of his venue’s still-to-be-announced open date. The first, “Don’t Look Down,” was hosted at 111 Minna Gallery during Super Bowl week in February, offering a glimpse of Buckley’s plans for his darker, more refined supper club basement space. The event featured performances by rappers Anderson .Paak, P-Lo and Larry June.
Tickets are on sale now for “Voyage to Paradiso” and must be purchased in advance of the event. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Oakland nonprofit the Hidden Genius Project, which aims to empower Black men with skills and mentorship.
All guests must adhere to the party’s all-white dress code for entry.
