TO THE GENERAL ELECTION. IN NOVEMBER, A RESTAURANT ENTERTAINMENT VENUE IN SACRAMENTO’S DOWNTOWN COMMONS APPEARS TO BE SHUTTING DOWN VERY SOON. PUNCHBOWL SOCIAL FILED WHAT’S KNOWN AS A WARN NOTICE, WITH CALIFORNIA’S EMPLOYMENT DEPARTMENT SAYING IT WILL CLOSE PERMANENTLY CHRISTMAS EVE AND THIS WILL IMPACT 83 EMPLOYEES. PUNCH BOWL SOCIAL OPENED IN DECEMBER OF 2017, OFFERING FOOD AND DRINKS AS WELL AS BOWLING, ARCADE GAMES AND KARAOKE.

One of downtown Sacramento’s largest entertainment centers will close its doors after almost eight years in business.Punch Bowl Social, a multi-floor restaurant venue that offers bowling, karaoke, pool, shuffleboard, darts and various other arcade games, first opened in December 2017. The 25,000 square-foot business connects with the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel and is considered a core attraction to the city’s Downtown Commons (DOCO) area, which houses the Sacramento Kings’ arena, the Golden 1 Center. But Punch Bowl recently filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) notice with California’s Employment Development Department.
