Multiple people involved in a pursuit Wednesday in the South Los Angeles area are believed to be connected to violent street robberies and other crimes, the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC4 Investigates.
Police chased the white Toyota Camry on Compton streets and the 10 Freeway in a pursuit that included several close calls with other cars. Multiple people were inside the sedan, police said.
The chase continued on the 110 Freeway before ending near Hooper Avenue and E 114th Street after the car was abandoned. Police found guns and jewelry inside the car, the LAPD said.
The people involved in the chase are believed to be linked to street robberies during which some of the victims were pistol-whipped, the LAPD told NBC4 Investigates. The same individuals are believed to have committed burglaries around the San Fernando Valley.
At least two people were in custody in connection with the chase.
Police said flashy jewelry is what has been drawing the attention of thieves and leading to the recent crimes.
