SO LET ME WALK YOU THROUGH THE DETAILS, BECAUSE THIS TAKES OVER PART OF THE CITY FOR A COUPLE HOURS THIS MORNING THEY REALLY THOUGHT OF EVERYONE BECAUSE IT’S A HALF MARATHON. TEN K5K, AND THEN THEY HAVE A BEER STROLL FOR EVERYONE WHO JUST WANTS TO MOSEY ON THROUGH. AND LIKE I SAID, STARTS BRIGHT AND EARLY. 830 IS THE KICKOFF TIME FOR THE HALF. THE TRACK WILL MAKE ITS WAY FROM OLD SACRAMENTO, WHERE I STAND OVER THE BRIDGE AND THEN AROUND THE RIVERFRONT AND DOWN THE AMERICAN RIVER BIKE PATH, THE TOWER BRIDGE. IT WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE EVENT AND REOPEN AROUND 1030 THIS MORNING. A festive mix of fitness and local flavor filled Old Sacramento on Saturday morning as the region hosted the Beer City Half.More than 1,000 participants took part in the event, with runners setting out on a 13.1-mile course and celebrating at the finish with beer from local breweries. Organizers say the race is about more than just running, its designed to bring people together and highlight what makes each host city unique.“Our aim is to bring people together with their community, and to invite people to visit new communities,” said Adam Ray, CEO and founder of Beer City. “Here in Sacramento, we have well over 1,000 people today, and about half of those come from a county other than Sacramento County.”Ray said the event is part of the larger Beer City Festival race series, which focuses on community, local culture and regional craft beer.
