Golden Knights at Ducks picks and predictionsPrediction
Golden Knights 3, Ducks 2
The Knights’ scoring surge in Game 3 was a bit unexpected, but the 6-spot was not Vegas’ first high-octane night in these playoffs. Over their last 6 contests, Vegas has gone 5-1 while averaging 4.17 goals per game. And that Knights’ attack is up against some struggling goaltenders on the other side.
Dating back to April 1, in regular-season and playoff games combined, Anaheim has gone just 7-9-1. Over the same time frame, the Knights have gone 12-3-1. Vegas went into the playoffs on a better trend line, and the club has more institutional knowledge when it comes to winning bracket games. The Ducks’ first-round win over Edmonton marked their first playoff series victory since 2017.
Mix in some special-teams tilt toward Vegas, which has netted power-play goals in 4 of their last 5 games, and the GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-114) are the value end of this Game 4 matchup.
No interest; PASS.
Prior to Friday, the Under had cashed in 7 of the previous 10 series meetings. The last 16 Vegas road games have produced a 10-6 tilt for the Under.
Over a span predating and including the playoffs, both the Ducks and Knights have posted better expected-than-actual-goals-allowed numbers on defense. Anaheim has been keeping a lid on shot opponent shot attempts, and the lean here is that power-play goals won’t be a major factor in this series.
The market may well be overreacting to the Knights’ big haul in Game 3, and both sides have been fairly stingy in keeping would-be shooters out of the slot in 5-on-5 play.
The UNDER 6.5 (-118) is a strong play.
