April 27 — Traffic complaint on Stringtown Road: A female subject reported that the driver of a dark gray pickup was honking their horn at her, and then started blocking both lanes of the highway. Dispatch could hear the horn in the background. When an officer arrived, there was no one in the area, and both subjects had left.
April 29 — There was a report of a suspicious smell coming from the women’s restroom on the first floor of Westwood Manor. The fire department responded and determined it was a diaper left in the vanity under the sink.
May 1 — Malicious mischief: A window was broken on a boat at the Port of Ilwaco. The caller said the damage happened sometime between April 21 and May 1. The window was on the port side, and behind plastic. The plastic was not punctured but the window was smashed with an unknown object. Perhaps a large bird hit it.
No entry was attempted or gained on the boat. The port was going to check their cameras and let the officer know if anything suspicious was found. The officer also took photos of the broken window, which may cost about $1,500 to replace.
May 2 — There was a theft at His Supper Table. The caller, a worker there, reported that at about 10 a.m., a male subject with a gold sweatshirt and blue jeans, who was riding a gray bicycle, helped himself to items left outside of the store while it was closed. A worker pulled up to open the store and asked him to leave. He left without issue.
The caller also reported that the day before, this same male took a bike that was outside the store, but the caller was unable to provide any value to any of the items the male subject took. After an officer reviewed the footage of the event, he was able to identify the subject, and asked the caller if they wanted the subject trespassed. The caller is unable to make legal decisions, and the store manager is out of town until next week.
Officer’s note: If the subject is seen, he needs to be given a verbal trespass.
May 3 — While performing traffic control, an officer observed a white Toyota enter the intersection and wave him over. While the officer was talking with the driver, he observed a White Claw can in the center cup holder with straw in it. Washington State patrol arrived, handled the call, and arrested the driver.
