AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY AFTER SACRAMENTO FIRE CREWS SPENT HOURS AT THE SCENE OF A CHURCH FIRE IN NORTH HIGHLANDS. IT BROKE OUT AT AROUND 220 ON HILLSDALE BOULEVARD NEAR WALERGA ROAD. CREWS SAY THE FIRE STARTED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BUILDING. THEN IT SPREAD TO A CLASSROOM AREA. Sacramento Metro Fire investigators are working to figure out how a fire started on Monday morning at a North Highlands church.Crews were called to the church on Hillsdale Boulevard near Walerga Road around 2:20 a.m.The fire started on the outside of the building and spread into a classroom area, officials said. Crews contained the fire to the front part of the building.Crews credit neighbors who noticed the fire in its early stages and called 911, officials said. Sacramento Metro Fire investigators are working to figure out how a fire started on Monday morning at a North Highlands church.
Crews were called to the church on Hillsdale Boulevard near Walerga Road around 2:20 a.m.
The fire started on the outside of the building and spread into a classroom area, officials said. Crews contained the fire to the front part of the building.
Crews credit neighbors who noticed the fire in its early stages and called 911, officials said. As a result, they were able to respond quickly and keep the damage to a minimum.
No one was inside the building, and no injuries were reported.
