Owner and cabinet designer Emily Wold splits her time between her two showrooms, located in Seattle and San Diego. The Washington native graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in architecture and has been working with residential clients and customers since 2003. Her work naturally segued into interior design and she spun into cabinetry design when she opened her own business, aiming to be more of a full-service and one-stop shop for her clients.
Wold’s husband Burton is very much a part of the company as well, involved since the beginning, supporting the back end of the business as an accountant while she focuses on the creative and designing side. The couple has four children and a granddaughter.
“My business is very much modeled after a small family business: excellent customer service, close relationships and care about delivering a quality product,” Wold said.
The second Belle Design Collective showroom opened in the Hillcrest/Banker’s Hill neighborhood of San Diego in 2018.
The showroom is a place where customers can come in to explore cabinetry collections, select lines of countertops, tile, and flooring, and to get advice. As a designer, she likes to give her clients her uninterrupted time, helping to create kitchens and bathrooms that feel custom and cohesive.
“(Cabinets) are such a statement piece in a project,” said Wold. The majority of her work is remodeling projects for homeowners to add more space or better organization or for a style refresh.
Belle Design offers both custom and semi-custom cabinetry to meet a wide range of project needs. She specializes in North American-made cabinetry—all lines are family-owned and manufactured in the U.S. and Canada.
Wold said her approach is rooted in understanding how people move, live, and gather in their homes. She believes great design should feel warm, intuitive and effortless — and that the best spaces come from listening to clients and designing with intention. She most enjoys the variety of people she gets to work with and the diversity of housing styles, especially between Washington state and San Diego.
“I absolutely love taking something that’s not functioning well and turning it into something that they love,” Wold said.
