The body of a woman was pulled from the canal on Nielsen Avenue, near Hughes Avenue.

Authorities are investigating a suspicious death after a person was found in a Fresno canal early Monday.
Police said a citizen spotted something in the canal at approximately midnight off Nielsen Avenue, near Hughes Avenue.
After stopping to take a closer look, the person realized it was a human and attempted to help pull them from the water.
When officers arrived on scene, they assisted in removing the person from the canal.
The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said it is currently unknown how the person ended up in the canal.
Detectives are continuing the investigation.
