SAN FRANCISCO, CA — A suspect in an August shooting in San Francisco that left a man hospitalized has been arrested, police said.

The man is accused of shooting another person on the afternoon of Aug. 7 in the area of Golden Gate Avenue and Jones Street. It’s unclear what led up to the shooting, but police said the victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, meanwhile, ran into a nearby building following the shooting, the San Francisco Police Department said. He evaded arrest that afternoon, but authorities continued investigating the shooting and identified the suspect as Oakland resident Vincent Thompson, police said.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, a mix of SFPD, Tracy Police Department and U.S. Marshals set up surveillance at a home in Tracy where they believed Thompson was, authorities.

They took him into custody just after 3:30 p.m. that day in connection with the shooting, police said.

He was taken to San Francisco County Jail, where he was booked on suspicion of aggravated assault with a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and robbery, police said.
