After more than two years of operating out of the window at Dada Market, fried fish sandwich favorite Little Fish will head to its new Echo Park home just down the block. Anna Sonenshein, who co-owns the restaurant with Niki Vahle, tells Eater that Little Fish will take over a portion of the former Sage Regenerative Kitchen space; Eastside Rag first reported the news. Little Fish’s last day at its original Echo Park window was May 10.
According to Sonenshein, the opening is still a few months out. The new location will serve an expanded breakfast and lunch menu and offer indoor seating. The former Sage space has been split down the middle for its next iteration; Little Fish will take the corner slot. Little Fish Melrose Hill will continue operating with normal hours during the move.
Chiso Cafe, a casual destination for Japanese cooking from Kiki Kudo, will take over the Dada Market window beginning Saturday, May 16. Chiso’s menu will include dashimaki egg sandwiches, mochi corn shiso rice balls, grilled fish bowls, and panko fried chicken, alongside pastries from Bakers Bench, Rocky’s Matcha, coffee from Dada Market, and beer and sake from Suntory.
Pasjoli adds weekend lunch
Chef Dave Beran’s Santa Monica bistro Pasjoli kicks off weekend lunch service on Saturday, May 16. Lunch will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a menu of tartare frites, a burger, and burnt Basque cheesecake, alongside cocktails and wine by the glass. Instead of full service, lunch will be ordered through the host and brought to your table.
An opening date for Ggiata Echo Park
Ggiata will open its newest outpost in Echo Park on May 18 in a portion of the former Señor Fish space along Sunset Boulevard. The new outpost features hand-thrown light fixtures from Danny D’s Mudshop, custom speakers from Max Ville of Ville Sounds, and window signs from Chicago-based Right Way Signs. Look forward to the usual lineup of sandwiches, including the Spicy P and cheesesteak, which will join the menu permanently, alongside a new breakfast burrito with scrambled eggs, white cheddar, and rosemary potatoes in a Mejorado flour tortilla.
Parking lot poke in Koreatown
Los Angeles has an unlikely new destination for poke — parking lots. Stephanie Breijo of the Los Angeles Times reports on Kelsey Sachi Lee’s Dover Sole Market, an ahi poke pop-up that offers pick-ups in Koreatown and Sherman Oaks. Sachi, who sources fish for restaurants including Found Oyster and Queen’s Raw Bar and Grill, offers tuna sourced from Oahu, dressed with three varieties of soy.
