Anaheim was one of the league’s surprising young teams under Joel Quenneville this season, and despite facing a 3-2 hole at the hands of the veteran Golden Knights, there are plenty of reasons for optimism.
Sennecke is one of the main reasons for the optimism. The 20-year-old rookie had one of the best draft reactions in a long time when he couldn’t hide his surprise about being the third overall pick in 2024, but he quickly proved this season why the Ducks took that chance on him. In the second round against the Golden Knights, he is proving it even more, according to a media release from the NHL.
“Sennecke achieved a handful of accomplishments on the night he found the back of the net for the fourth straight contest: he established a franchise playoff record for the longest goal streak by a rookie (4-1—5 in 4 GP); his five goals in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs matched the single-postseason franchise rookie record; and his four goals tied the most in a series by a player age 20 or younger in the past 16 years,” it stated.
The Ducks fell short in overtime against Vegas on Tuesday night, but they have a chance to force a winner-take-all Game 7 with Game 6 going Thursday night in Anaheim. The Ducks are 4-1 at home in the playoffs.
