Alex McCoy had been slumping in May.

He busted out in a losing effort on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old outfielder hit his sixth homer in a three-hit game in high Single-A Fort Wayne’s 4-3 loss at Cedar Rapids.

The blast was McCoy’s first since April 28. He is hitting .147/.302/.265 through 10 games in May after hitting .354/.386/.683 in 22 games in April.

McCoy drove in two runs on Wednesday to give him 17 on the season. He is hitting .293/.359/.560.

Catcher Lamar King Jr. (.809 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a triple and third baseman Zach Evans (.603 OPS) went 1-for-4 with a triple. First baseman Jack Costello (.781 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a walk.

Right-hander Maikel Miralles (6.20 ERA) struck out six over five innings of two-run ball in the start.

Right-hander Clay Edmondson (0-2, 0.60 ERA) blew his first save with two unearned runs allowed in a walk-off loss.

Fort Wayne is 16-19.

LHP Jagger Haynes (4.67 ERA) struck out seven and allowed three runs on five hits and no walks in 6⅔ innings in the start.

Storm 4, Rancho Cucamonga 0: RHP Jesus A. Castro (3.55 ERA) struck out nine and allowed seven hits and a walk in 5⅔ innings in the start. C Ty Harvey (.846 OPS) went 1-for-4 with a steal in his return from a hamstring injury. 1B Luke Cantwell (.986 OPS) went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk and a run scored. CF Ryan Wideman (.934 OPS) went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
