Lockdown at Bakersfield HS lifted: BPD
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A lockdown at Bakersfield High School Thursday morning was lifted after officers investigated the report of a person with a rifle strapped across their chest.
Bakersfield police said the report came in at about 8:55 a.m. Officers were at the school a minute later, according to BPD.
The school was placed on lockdown while Kern High School District officers and BPD officers investigated.
Police said no shots were fired.
Police said the person who reported the incident refused to give any additional information, identifying information and called from a blocked number.
Officials with the high school district said operations at the high school are resuming normally for the remainder of the day and additional law enforcement will be on-site as a precaution.
This is a developing story.
