The Long Beach Coast, the city’s new professional baseball team, is just days away from the start of its inaugural season — and the team is getting ready to celebrate.

The Coast will have its inaugural game against the Yuba-Sutter Freebirds at Bryant Field in Marysville on Tuesday, May 19. Since the venue is a bit of a long drive for Long Beach locals, the team is planning to host a watch party at Trademark Brewing that day starting at 6 p.m.

Trademark Brewing, according to a recent announcement for the team, will also serve as the Long Beach Coast’s official concessionaire at Blair Field, where the company will oversee all food and drink offerings during the season. The team’s first home game is scheduled for June 2 against the Pioneer Baseball League’s travel team, the RedPocket Mobiles.

“We’ve always believed great beer and food bring people together, and baseball does the same thing,” Trademark Brewing’s founder, Sterling Steffen, said in the announcement.  “Partnering with the Long Beach Coast gives us an opportunity to create something uniquely Long Beach — a place where families and fans can come together to enjoy a great night out without leaving the city.”

Some of the food offerings at Blair Field, the announcement said, will include smash burgers, elote street corn cups and loaded hotdogs. Trademark Brewing, of course, will also offer a slew of craft beers for fans to try.

“In addition to featuring Trademark Brewing favorites,” the Coast’s announcement said, “the partnership will also spotlight the city’s thriving craft beer scene through a rotating tap program showcasing breweries from across Long Beach throughout the season.”

Besides the May 19 watch party, Trademark Brewing will also host a hiring fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, at its Long Beach location, 223 E. Anaheim St. (Trademark also has a location at The Enclave, 980 W. 190th St., in Torrance).

The hiring fair “will focus on building a game day staff that reflects the energy of the Long Beach community,” the announcement said.

Aside from Trademark Brewing, Long Beach Coast has also brought on another major partner — the Port of Long Beach.

The port, in fact, has been named an “Official Partner” of the club, according to the announcement. As part of the partnership, POLB will present a Fourth of July celebration at Blair Field on July 2, when the Coast face off against the Oakland Ballers.

“The marquee summer event will recognize the Port’s role in supporting American commerce and global connection,” the announcement said, “while celebrating the spirit of Long Beach through baseball and community.”

The Independence Day celebration will conclude with a post-game drone show.

POLB also helped put on the Long Beach Coast’s first youth baseball clinic on Saturday, May 9, a free event for children aged 4 to 7, hosted in collaboration with the Long Beach State Dirtbags. More than 150 kids attended the clinic, according to the Coast.

“The energy and turnout at Saturday’s clinic showed exactly what baseball can do for a community,” Long Beach Coast co-founder Paul Freedman said in the announcement.  “The Port of Long Beach shares our belief that sports can bring people together and create meaningful opportunities for local families. We’re proud to partner with an organization that plays such an important role in the identity and future of Long Beach.”

The Port of Long Beach, meanwhile, will be featured via in-stadium branding, community programming and digital content throughout the season, the announcement said.
