Community leaders in San Jose rallied to oppose the construction of a federal detention center near Gilroy, following reports about plans for the facility. The opposition comes after San Jose Spotlight reported on public records indicating that a Beverly Hills real estate firm won a contract to build the center at 7240 Holsclaw Road. Homeland Security representatives previously declined to confirm the plans. California State Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas said, “Our community is not a dumping ground for Trump’s heartless ICE machine. Not here. Not ever.
